Season 8, Season Finale. Who are we watching?

One word. Wow. What a season it has been, and the most successful one too having an average of 19 drivers per round! Of course, with that, some great racing and some spicy rivalries. The competitors have come a long way and worked hard, but who is in contention for the Season 8 Champion crown? Let's have a look.

Rowan Gill (USA) - 71 Points

This kid has only done 2 seasons, and has already been in the championship fight, coming into the last round, twice! An impressive display from the reigning Rookie Champion, as he puts himself in a fair position for the crown. Though his speed has defenitely been not what it was last season, he still managed to pick up the pieces and have some consistent finishes. Driver of the number 3 kart, must score full points in the final, and hope his fellow contenders finish outside the Top 8, which is not off the cards! Can Gill make a break through, and be the second ever American to take the OKC crown?

Aaron Heathman (USA) - 72 Points

After breaking records after records in the last 3 seasons, Heathman seems to have lost that 'extra bit' that allowed him to always be in the prime position for championships. The three-time OKC Champion has a tough challenge ahead of him this time by, as he needs to hope for a outside the Top 5 finish from his fellow contenders if he wins. Not having won a Final this season yet, he will want to finish this season off with a bang. Then who knows, that win may turn into a 4th consecutive championship for the American if luck goes his way!

Justin Adakonis (USA) - 73 Points

The way Justin went about his start of the season, dropped a few jaws, claiming a clean sweep at the season opener in Adria. After that, better than a top 5 finish never came his way, for factors outside of his control. After missing the penultimate round, Justin gives himself the 'perfect drop score', to set himself up for this exciting season finale. A bit of an 'all in' approach from 9th place finisher last season, as he looks to score maximum points at Genk. Justin has to hope both his championship contenders finish lower than 6th for him to win by a point, in case he wins the race. Adakonis is already a proven race winner this season. Will this give him the psychological advantage pver his opponents?

Ethan Lampe (USA) - 77 Points

At the moment, Ethan has the upper hand psychologically, having dominated the last two finals. His start of the season, was defenitely not the one he was looking for, but now as it looks like, he is in his prime! Not only would Ethan break Heathman's run of 3 championships in a row, but it would put him as a first-time winner of the OKC Championships. Ethan has been showing some brilliant pace and racecraft against his rivals, as he charged 19 positions last time by at Casteletto! If Ethan manages to claim his third and consecutive win of the season, he must make sure Ceronetti finishes outside podium positions. A certian tough challenge ahead of him!

Alessandro Ceronetti (GBR) - 82 Points

Following his championship win in Season 4, Ceronetti has been vice-champion to his teammate Heathman, for 3 seasons in a row. Once again, Ceronetti is in a prime position to win the championship. To him, this will not mean it makes his job easier than the others. Being his first outside of the podium finish in Casteletto, does it mean it's a sudden drop in performance from Ceronetti, or just a one-off? Though the FPR driver is in the prime position on all his rivals, he must make sure he finishes directly behind all his rivals or in front. He cannot afford to be at least 2 places behind his closest rival, Ethan Lampe. Will Ceronetti equal Heathman's record of 3 championships?

How about that? 5 drivers within 11 points, and all within fair reach of the title! We cannot wait to see this huge season finale! There is another sub-championship to watch too, as the amateur class drivers battle it out for the Top Amateur title! Let's have a gander.

Carmine Caruso (USA) - 60 Points

What a season it's been for Caruso. In his first full season, Caruso has managed to find a place in front of his rivals as the season progressed. Being in the prime position to take the win of the amateur championship, Caruso is also in contention for 6th in the championship! All Caruso has to do is finish in front of his rivals!

Dylan Denhaese (USA) - 57 Points

A season full of ups and downs for Denhaese. A team swap mid way through the season did not seem to pay off completely, as he missed on some important points and dropped back behind Caruso in the standings. All Denhaese can do now, is to finish in front of Caruso! After showing some lights of excellence, Denhaese is more than capable to do that!

Bill Wright (USA) - 48 Points

Though fairly far back to reach the two young guns, the eldest in the series has shown some greatness and some spotless improvements in the last few rounds! Wright had a steady season opener, just managing the B-Final. After that, something in him clicked, and he has placed in the top 10 finishing positions consistently, and often showing greater pace over his rivals. For sure it will be tough for Bill, but can he have a special season finale? We will find out at Genk!
